NOMINATING A CANDIDATE FOR NCUR BOARD OF GOVERNORS

The NCUR Board of Governors is a 24 person board, with three of the seats filled by host institution representatives and the remaining 21 positions staggered such that 7 are scheduled to expire concurrently. Of the 7 open positions in any election cycle, some are typically filled by re-elected board members. Elections are held annually during the spring meeting and candidates are notified of the outcome shortly thereafter. NCUR tries to maintain a candidate pool well in excess of the number of vacancies anticipated. Candidate names will be maintained in the candidate pool for up to three years.

The NCUR Board of Governors meets twice per year. The Fall meeting is normally a two-day meeting (Friday-Saturday) held in late September. The Spring meeting is held the Wednesday preceding the Annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research. Both meetings are held on the campus of the institution serving as the host for the National Conference on Undergraduate Research for that academic year. Some meals are provided during the meeting, but NCUR does not provide reimbursement for travel expenses incurred to attend the meetings. The registration fee is waived for Governors attending the National Conference on Undergraduate Research.

Might you or someone you know be interested in serving on the NCUR Board of Governors? To be considered for the membership on the board, submit a brief narrative outlining interest in serving on the NCUR Board of Governors (100-200 words), and a short (no more than 2 pages) CV/resume by e-mail to our current board chair, Dr. Gregory Young (gyoung@montana.edu).

Thank you for your interest in furthering undergraduate research activity, for the benefit of students.
